Fabric, Copilot, Power Platform: how to structure a roadmap toward the Frontier Firm, with concrete and quantified customer case studies

Only 16 % of employees who use AI on a daily basis currently deserve the title of «Frontier Professional»—those advanced users who, according to Microsoft’s latest Work Trend Index, are redefining the very nature of their work [1]. The rest make only occasional use of it: a few shortcuts, some text generation—nothing that truly changes the game. The picture is even bleaker at the project level: an MIT study published in the summer of 2025 estimates that 95 % of generative AI pilots in companies have no measurable impact [2].

We encounter this paradox every week with our large corporate and mid-cap clients: most have already launched several AI initiatives across disjointed scopes, without ever turning them into a sustainable trajectory. Microsoft has theorized a way out of this impasse around a concept: the Frontier Firm, an organization that no longer manages AI as a collection of isolated use cases, but places it at the heart of its operational model, with agents integrated into the very execution of the work.

As a consulting & technology expert Microsoft, our belief is that technology is never the right starting point: our role is to understand your business challenges before proposing scenarios Microsoft Frontier who answer them. It is the business before the technology: a method that Silamir has been applying for several years to build, with its clients, a trajectory toward the Frontier Firm with a quantifiable ROI, rather than piling on new pilots. Here, very concretely, is how we break it down into three parts.

Three pillars to build your Frontier Firm

Becoming a Frontier Firm cannot be decreed from a steering committee: it is built brick by brick, on solid foundations. We have structured our support around three pillars of the Microsoft ecosystem, which can be activated independently but are designed to work together.

1. AI-Ready Data: The Microsoft Fabric Foundation to Establish Before Any AI Project

An AI agent is only as good as the data it relies on, and Gartner predicts that 60 % of AI projects will be abandoned by the end of 2026 due to a lack of sufficiently reliable data [3]. Before we talk about agents, we must therefore address data accessibility, classification, and governance.

Our approach starts with a data flow audit through the lens of Process Mining to identify silos, redundancies, and low-value pipelines before deploying an infrastructure Microsoft Fabric Data Thoughtfully designed from start to finish, right down to the next-generation Power BI dashboards, with security and compliance guaranteed by Microsoft Purview. It is this foundation that will enable your Copilot agents in the future to reason based on accurate business context rather than partial data.

Client Case Study: A Private Equity firm managing several billion euros in assets has replaced a fragmented landscape of more than seven legacy tools with a unified data platform on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, delivering reliable financial and ESG reporting in three months.

2. From the Isolated User to Collaborative Users: Structuring Your Use of Microsoft Copilot

Agent-based AI has evolved: it is no longer about deploying a single agent for a specific, isolated need, but rather about enabling multiple agents to collaborate with one another, exchanging context and transferring tasks. An OutSystems study of nearly 1,900 IT managers confirms this: 96 % of companies already use AI agents, but 94 % are concerned about their uncontrolled proliferation [4].

So we no longer provide a single agent to meet a specific need; instead, we work with our clients to design teams of agents Microsoft Copilot capable of collaborating on complex tasks, from the targeted deployment of Copilot M365 on Teams, Word, and Outlook to more advanced scenarios built on Copilot Studio or Azure AI Foundry.

Client Case Study: A leading French real estate development finance firm (with approximately 12 billion euros in assets under management) deployed eleven AI agents built with Copilot Studio, Power Apps, and Microsoft Graph, which went live in six weeks, to draft investment notes for the Front Office, resulting in a time savings of 40 % and a return on investment of €11 for every €1 in operating costs, achieved in five months.

3. The Low-Code Power Platform: Empowering Business Units

A Frontier Firm cannot rely solely on the IT department. That is the whole point of the Power Apps low-code : To enable business teams to build—with structured guidance—applications and workflows tailored to their processes on their own, without having to wait for a traditional development cycle.

We start with a process mining map of the tasks that are actually time-consuming, and then deploy the low-code/no-code workflows from the Power Platform to automate them, with, when relevant, a Copilot Studio layer to connect these automations to new AI-driven scenarios, without any tooling disruption between the two worlds. It is this Microsoft Solutions Integration end-to-end—from business analysis to technical deployment—which sets our support apart.

Client Case Study: A leading insurance brokerage firm (approximately 1 billion euros in revenue, 5,000 employees) identified, through process mining of its claims management processes, a time savings of 10.9 % for the team through targeted Power Platform automations: automatic creation of files under the IRSI agreement, automated follow-ups with adjusters and clients, and a complete assessment completed in four weeks.

Why Choose Silamir?

We prioritize serving our clients’ businesses over serving technology: Our consultants understand your business challenges before they even mention Microsoft, And it is this understanding that then guides the selection of the right building blocks—never the other way around. This approach relies on technical teams capable of deploying the full range of Microsoft (Fabric, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry), backed by more than 165 certifications, 4 Solutions Partner designations, and 2 Advanced Specializations, all supported by a strategic relationship with the software vendor.

Microsoft Fabric, Copilot, and Power Platform are not three building blocks to be stacked on top of one another, but rather the three pillars of a single journey—a journey that is first and foremost driven by a business vision, before becoming an architectural consideration. That is why we offer a free, no-obligation scoping workshop, to assess your current level of maturity and work together to prioritize your first high-impact use cases.
